We have been studying Neolithic Art for the past couple days. We finished the slideshow today, save for one artwork---the Terra cotta fragment. Please read the linked essay and review the slideshow. We'll have a Kahoot over Global Prehistory tomorrow with our test on Monday.
Today we will be starting to look at Prehistoric Art---namely, Paleolithic art.
On the first page of the slideshow, complete all of the readings tonight. In class today, we looked at the Apollo 11 stones and the Lascaux cave paintings. We'll probably finish up the Paleolithic art tomorrow. We didn't cover too much today due to the Handbook Assembly. Students: first things first. Make sure you tell the sub what you will be doing today. Make sure the sub knows how to find this website. I'm expecting all of you to help out and pretty much run the test.
Here is how the test will work: Click this link to access the slideshow for the test. You will be using your own paper to write down your answers. When you have finished, please turn in your paper to the substitute. Tomorrow, we will have our first test of the year. As a heads up, every test we take will mimic the AP Exam (multiple choice, free response). The test over the Global Contemporary Content Area will include 30 multiple choice questions. It will need to be completed by the end of the period tomorrow.
Today, we will do a quick review session using Kahoot! Click here for the link. A good reminder regarding the test tomorrow: every question corresponds to one of the Learning Objectives set forth by the AP College Board. You can always look at them under the Resources tab. This may give you a better understanding for the types of questions you can expect on the tests. Today, we will be finishing up our Global Contemporary Content Area by looking at some Contemporary Architects.
We will be looking at the three Video Artists in the Global Contemporary Content Area today: Bill Viola, Mariko Mori, and Nam June Paik
Tonight, choose one of the artists covered today and complete a Box Notes for their work. Continued working through (and ended up finishing!) the Contemporary Male Artists slideshow. Tonight, read the Khan Academy article over Song Su-nam's Summer Trees.
Tomorrow, we'll look at a few Video Artists, Wednesday we'll look at our Architecture works, and then we'll be finished. Thursday will be a review/study period and Friday will be the first Content Area test. Today we will begin looking at some of the Male Contemporary Artists. We should be able to get through Basquiat, Koons, and Shonibare.
