We will be finishing up our studies of the Italian Renaissance today---we only have the Birth of Venus left! Remember, there were two separate Renaissances happening---one in Italy and one in the North. Today, we will begin looking at the Northern Renaissance.
As we begin studying the Northern artworks--take note of the differences. These works were produced during the same time as the Italian works, but there are many differences in styles and motifs. Notably, the attention to details. There are only a handful of Northern artworks (not like the Italian), so we will be able to move through this a little quicker. We will be continuing our studies of the Italian Renaissance today. Hopefully, we can get through a few of the Ninja Turtles.
Divide yourselves into three groups. You will all be working on the same artwork--The Golden Haggadah--but there are three separate images. Each group will be responsible for an Annotation for your group's image.
We have been working through the Romanesque period and the Gothic periods---today, we finished up the Gothic period.
On the slideshow, read through the essays for the last work---complete a Box Notes for your assigned page (Dedication or Apocalypse). A couple days back we started to look at our next Content Area: Early Europe and the Colonial Americas.
We covered the basic introduction to the Content Area, and brief introduction to Christianity (since so many of the works in this set relate to Christianity), and begun looking at our first artworks: Late Antique, Medieval, and Byzantine Art. Oh, we've also started to look at some churches. It would be good if you read through the Elements of Architecture slideshow regarding longitudinal and central plan churches. I know this is being posted late (and I do apologize for that), but I sincerely forgot to post the links to the Kahoots. It was not intentional in any way. A thousand apologies.
